Caterpillar HostplantsAmerican Potato-Bean (Apios americana), Engleman's Milk-vetch (Astragalus distortus var. engelmannii), Butterfly-Pea (Centrosema virginianum), Little-Leaf Tick-Clover (Desmodium ciliare), Panicled Tick-Clover (Desmodium paniculatum), Round-Head Bush-Clover (Lespedeza capitata), Hairy Bush-Clover (Lespedeza hirta), Slender Bush-Clover (Lespedeza virginica), Trailing Wild-Bean (Strophostyles helvula), and Strophostyles leiosperma.

General NotesCan sometimes be confused with Northern Cloudywing (Thorybes pylades). Southern Cloudywing is normally slightly smaller than Northern Cloudywing; has a white "face" as opposed to the dark "face" of Northern Cloudywing; usually has more white patterning on forewings than Northern.
